BRAHMA KAMAL June 04,2021 Saussurea  obvallata (Brahma kamal)   is a species of flowering plant in the Asteraceae. It is native to the Himalayas,  Himachal, Uttarakhand, India, Mongolia. In the Himalayas, it is found at an altitude of around 4500 m. Brahma kamal - rare, legendary & mythological plant of India Brahma kamal, named after Brahma, the God of creation, probably blooms only for one night in the entire year, somewhere between July and September.  It is commonly known as night-blooming cereus, Queen of the night, Lady of the night. In India, it is called as "Brahma Kamal " and is treated as a sacred plant. They have large pure white star-like flowers with lovely fragrances to help their pollinators locate the blossoms by moon or star light. It is also popularly known as Orchid Cactus as the flower has orchid-like beauty and plants resemble cactus inhabit.
